Permanent Lips

Whether you’re hoping to add a pop of color, create a barely-there beautiful effect, or correct over-pigmentation or vitiligo, permanent makeup for your lips can give you a look you want. In today’s world of permanent makeup, lips are a trending topic – especially now that there are more possibilities than ever before!

Even just a few years ago, permanent makeup lips generally came in only one style (the standard lipstick look). And as lovely as PMU lipstick looks, having other options is a major benefit. Lisa Om Studio + Academy has a team of PMU artists who are extensively trained in various techniques and styles, including specialty procedures for corrective purposes.

From a natural, flirty blush to a statement-making color, there’s a permanent lip technique that will suit your style.

The Benefits of Permanent Lip Color or Shading

Sure, you could always keep stocking up on lipsticks and stains, but don’t you think it’s time to step into the future of beauty? If you’re ready to update your lips gorgeously, permanent makeup is an excellent option. With a quick and simple procedure, you can enjoy lips that always look they’re very best – with zero effort required.

There are many perks to permanent lips, including:

  • Enjoy no-fade fabulousness. Traditional lip color can fade within a few hours of application, smudging on your face, clothes, and teeth and coming off quickly after eating or drinking. But once your lips have been enhanced with permanent makeup, they’ll be picture-perfect 24/7.

  • Make the most of your natural lip shape. Figuring out the best way to put on lipstick so that it complements your lip shape can be a challenge. But at OM Studio, our PMU team will assess your facial structure and lip shape to create a PMU look that enhances your natural beauty to the fullest.

  • Save money on makeup. You might be surprised to learn that PMU lips can actually be a financially-savvy move – but think about how much you spend on lip products! Once you don’t have to buy lipstick anymore (except for when you want to switch things up for a special occasion), your beauty budget will go further than it ever has before.

  • Be ready for anything, anytime. After getting permanent lips, you can skip an entire step in your morning routine and save time. This is especially handy on busy days or occasions when you just don’t want or need a full face of makeup.

Frequently Asked Questions

Because there are so many techniques for PMU lips, it’s a great option for a diverse range of clients. If you want to add long-lasting color to your lips, either subtle or more noticeable, permanent lips are perfect for you. Clients that are struggling with discoloration caused by vitiligo or over-pigmentation are also an excellent fit for specialized PMU procedures, as are clients who want to enhance their lip shape.

OM Studio PMU artists create custom colors for each and every client so that we can bring your beauty vision to life. Depending on the effect you’re hoping for, your PMU artist will help you choose the pigment that’s right for you. If you have a favorite lipstick shade, feel free to bring it in as an example.

Usually, the permanent lips procedure takes between 2-4 hours.

Many clients wonder: does permanent makeup hurt? Most are pleasantly surprised that there is little to no discomfort during the procedure while it’s a somewhat unusual sensation. We also use a numbing cream to make sure you’re as comfortable as possible.

The primary recommended preparation for permanent lips is to avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, and alcohol for a full 24 hours prior, and fish oil/vitamin E for 72 hours prior. You should also discontinue use of Retin-A and AHA products and stay away from waxing, laser, and electrolysis for at least a week beforehand.

Usually, the permanent lips procedure takes between 2-4 hours.

We recommend that you do not get PMU while pregnant or breastfeeding.

After the first PMU session, an initial touch-up will be scheduled within 6-12 weeks to complete the process. After that, many clients get a color boost after 12 months, though a full touchup isn’t generally needed for  2-3 years.
