Expect treated areas to be tender for the next few days. The procedure area may be red, swollen or have a discharge of interstitial fluid and blood for at least 12 hours post procedure. Gently dab off excess interstitial fluid from the procedure area with a clean tissue and distilled water or bottled water. Remember that you should wipe off the interstitial fluid to avoid getting a thick crust.
The procedure area will be much darker for 5-7 days post procedure. The true color will not be visible for 4 weeks post procedure and for each color refresher.
Tissue heals at different levels and duration. Some people heal within 7 days and some will take 10 or more days to heal.
Eyelash growth serums (Latisse, Rapid Lash or any other) SHOULD NOT BE USED 4 WEEKS BEFORE AND AFTER PROCEDURE.
Do not use mascara after the procedure until it has healed. Purchase a new tube; the old tube may have bacteria in it. This includes all eye makeup.
Do not use eyelash curler for a few days before and after procedure.
Do not wear your contact lenses for 72 hours post procedure, wear glasses. If eyes are
irritated do not use contacts until your eyes are healed. Clean contact lenses can be worn 72 hours after the procedure. Do not use Saline to wet the eyes. It will fade the liner out instantly. Use only sterile water.
Do not apply individual lashes or strip eyelashes to the eyelash area. You will pull off your pigment.
If you experience any itching, swelling, blistering or any other complications post-procedure, stop using product and call your technician immediately. You may be allergic to the aftercare product you are using. Do not rub, scratch or irritate your eyes as you may create a corneal abrasion. Rinse out your eyes!
Do not touch the healing pigmentated area with your fingers. Touching the treated area with your fingers, unclean cotton swabs, old products or other, may result in infection. If you need to touch the area, use a clean cotton swab.
No sauna, jacuzzi, steam, exercise hot yoga, swimming in chlorine pools or in the ocean till the area is completely healed after initial procedure or color refreshers.
Do not expose your face to the sun until the procedure area has healed. The sun will fade the pigment. Do not wear makeup on the treated area until it has healed. You might cause an infection or otherwise damage the permanent makeup.
If you are a blood donor, you may NOT give blood for 1 year following your permanent makeup application according to Red Cross.
Touch-up visits should be scheduled between 6-8 weeks post procedure. All permanent makeup procedures are at least two-step process and for some three-step process. Results cannot be determined until the color refresher is completed.
If you resume the Retin-A, Retinol, or Retinoids after the 30 days, the continued use will fade your permanent makeup prematurely.
DO NOT USE any lightening and peeling products that contain AHA’s, Vitamin A, Retinol A, Glycolic/Lactic Acids on the treated area; it will fade your tattoo/permanent makeup prematurely.
If you are out in the sun a lot, have oily skin, using Retinol products, chemical peels, then you will need color refreshers every 6 months to 1 year.
Permanent Eyeliner Day-to-Day Instructions Day 1 (Day of the procedure)
Do not touch the eyes. Before bed you can ice the eyes by applying it over a clean cloth. Do not apply ice directly on skin wrap it with soft fabric or paper towel.
Lightly dab with wet gauze using (sterile water or distilled water) to take interstitial fluid off 1 hour after procedure just only ONE TIME. Do not wash the eyes, try to keep them dry the first day. If the eyes are swollen you can take Tylenol or Benadryl. Do not apply any ointment or lotion etc. on the treated area.
Day 2
The eyes may be swollen the next day after the procedure, it is a normal reaction, some clients swell more than others. The swelling should start going down during this day and the eyes should be looking better by the end of the second day. Do not wash the eyes, try to keep them dry. You can clean around the treated area.
Day 3-10
If the skin feels very dry by day 3, you can apply a very thin layer of Aquaphor, After-Inked or Grapeseed Oil. Do not apply too much to avoid adverse reactions. Wash your hands before applying ointment and use Q-tip or cotton swab.
During Day 1 through Day 10 or even longer (until the scabs are gone)
AVOID water on the treated area, makeup, excessive sweating, no sauna, no pools, and sunbathing. Do not peel the scabs at all as you may cause scarring if otherwise.
Do not apply anything besides ointments recommended.
4 weeks after the procedure
It is best not to use creams that contain acids or ingredients that will lighten or exfoliate the skin. Touch-up is best to be done 6 weeks later and allow extra time for clients to heal longer. For mature skin clients, 8 weeks is best for touch-ups.
